2025 Vaurien Class National and Iberian Championship
From May 1st to 3rd, the Tavira Regatta Course, organized by the Clube Náutico de Tavira, hosted the 2025 Vaurien Class National and Iberian Championship, with the participation of 17 crews from various Portuguese and Spanish clubs.
Over the three days of competition, a total of 4 races were held under challenging conditions: light wind on the first day allowed for one race, the second day saw all crews remain ashore due to extreme conditions with gusts reaching 34 knots, and the final day saw three races completed in very strong winds.
The 2025 National Championship, held from May 1st to 3rd, stood out for the excellent performance of the sailors and the camaraderie experienced ashore. The overall winners of the 2025 National Championship were Alexandre Paulino and João Salvador (UDVilafranquense), who were also crowned National Champions in the Master category. Second place went to the Spanish duo Ignacio Campos and Yolanda Bastos (No Club), while Hugo Reis and Tomás Lemos (SCAveiro/CVCNova) took third place, also securing the title of National Vice-Champions.
For the 2025 Iberian Championship, held on May 2nd and 3rd, all podium spots were taken by Spanish crews. The overall victory in the 2025 Iberian Championship went once again to Pablo Cabello and Oscar Romero (RCNVigo). Second place was secured by Pedro Fernandez and Carolina Gomez (RCNRodeira), while Sissel Acasuso and Jorge Campos (RCMA RSC/RCMS) claimed third place.
These were three intense days filled with idea exchange, camaraderie, and dedication to sailing and the Vaurien class.
Congratulations to all the participants!
Our thanks go to all the clubs and sailors for their presence, to the Race Committee for their excellent work throughout the three days of competition, and to everyone who contributed to the success of the 2025 Vaurien National and Iberian Championship.
A BIG THANK YOU to Clube Náutico de Tavira and its President!
