VAURIEN CLASS RULES UPDATED
World Sailing has published the lastest version of the International Vaurien Class Rules.
Several changes were implemented after the winter meeting of the Technical Committee and CIV.
Many wordings needed adjustment to follow the World Sailing / Equipment Rules of Sailing. Some examples are:
KICKER and KICKER STRAP now are called VANG; CENTREBOARD is now DAGGERBOARD.
Also, all diagrams have been updated to better quality.
The biggest, actual change is on the windows in mainsail and headsail. CIV & CT decided to free up the limitations for the windows dimensions. This removes a situation from our class rules, where on one side the size of windows was limited, while at the same time it would be possible to build the complete sail from window material.
Now, we open the possibility to build sails, where (up to two) complete panels are made from window. This will ease the construction for sailmakers and increase visibility and therefore safety for sailors. As a new limitation, we want to limit the use of window material to maximum two panels per sail.
On other topics, we now have definded a minimum volume for the handbailer of 1.5 liters.
